In 1995 after trying to video tape a collaborative concert sponsored by
the New York Latin Jazz Society and the Parks Department of the Bronx,
Steve Pouchie enrolled in a course at the newly formed Bronxnet
facility, and trained for six months, as a novice video producer.
Very soon thereafter, he shot his first video production featuring two
live Latin Jazz bands, and then did a number of shoots at the Old
Willie's Steak house.
Since then, Steve and his with Naomi who took on the role of interviewer, have videotaped and interviewed a list of who's who in the Latin Jazz and Salsa world including: Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Ray Barretto, Johnny Pacheco, Willie Colon, Tito Nieves, Conjunto Classico, Jimmy Sabater, Dave Valentin, Andy Garcia and Conjunto Libre, Gilberto SantaRosa, and many others. More importantly, this weekly cable show which airs throughout the metro New York area, has also helped to expose the NY audience to many new emerging artists, such as Chris Washburne, Andrea Brachfeld, Bobby Sanabria, Demetrius Kasaris, Ivol Tirado, Jimmy Bosch, and others. In 2002 Steve and Naomi were given the BETA award for their cable show being one of the most watched and longest running success in the Bronx community. Now in 2005, the show has begun to be aired in Westchester and Queens on a weekly basis, and reaches many thousands of fans, throughout the Metro New York area.
